Professional Somatic Therapy Services Near You

Tally Shortland..
Hello, thank you for visiting my site. I have probably been where you are, many times over!

There are several contributors to why we might be looking for support and understanding...

In today's fast-paced world, we often find ourselves juggling multiple roles and unconsciously meeting the demands of archetypes of how we must appear—attractive, youthful, slim, strong, successful, sexy, caregiver, professional, partner, and friend—to name a few - leading to emotional strain and mental exhaustion.
Experiences that happen in our early lives, including childhood, shape our attachments (relationships to others) and are stored in both our subconscious and bodies, sometimes without our knowledge. This WILL affect our confidence and how we see the world around us. Unresolved past experiences can become stuck in our nervous system and psyche, resulting in anxieties, fears, low self esteem and poor health.
As a result, many are seeking alternative therapeutic modalities that resonate with their individual experiences.
Somatic psychotherapy is a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. It recognizes the intricate connection between the body and mind, understanding that emotional experiences are often stored in the body. This therapeutic technique encourages individuals to become aware of their bodily sensations, emotions, and behaviors, leading to deeper self-awareness and healing.

The Body Remembers....
"I am doing this work to know myself more deeply, to touch the core of myself..."

Body AccessTherapy ™ is a somatic method influenced by Dr Gabor Maté, Dr Richard Schwartz and Marisa Peer. I firmly believe in the process of self enquiry which starts in the body. These somatic practices combined with my love of teaching yoga have resulted in somatic circles and retreats across Europe and UK. It includes:

-
Mind-Body Connection: Somatic psychotherapy emphasizes that our physical state can significantly influence our emotional well-being. By tuning into bodily sensations, we can uncover suppressed emotions and traumas.
-
Embodiment: This approach encourages us to inhabit their bodies fully. Through mindfulness techniques, clients learn to recognize and release tension, which can lead to emotional release and healing.
-
Trauma-Informed Care: Many have experienced trauma, whether personal or systemic. Somatic psychotherapy is particularly effective in addressing trauma, helping us to process and release it at a physical level.
-
Empowerment: Somatic therapy fosters self-efficacy, encouraging us to take charge of our healing journey. This empowerment can lead to improved self-esteem and a deeper connection to one's authentic self.
